Millican Ogden Community Association (MOCA) receives requests for additional, accessible spaces along with smaller spaces, kitchen facilities, and storage which MOCA cannot accommodate at this point in time; as well, many inquires occur for use of the Lower Hall regularly for meetings and gatherings but access for those with mobility issues prevents usage of this space. MOCA also has many items that are in our capital renewal plan that need to be addressed, some of which are urgent others need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

  • there is no access for the disabled & those with restricted mobility to the Lower Hall
  • the Upper & Lower Hall both have no handicap stalls in the washrooms
  • the handicap ramp to the Upper Hall is not up to building & safety code
  • the electrical wiring, outlets, fire alarm system and plumbing are out of date (IE: toilets continually plugged due to insufficient drainage, electrical breakers trip & renters cannot access appropriate panels to fix the power outage)
  • lack of storage for long term user groups: we currently have 3 long term renters that have storage space that is insufficient; some equipment is left out continually which causes safety issues from clutter and unattractive to other users
  • lack of a fully functioning kitchen: currently a sink (not up to code & near electrical outlets- has been requested to be fixed), a microwave and cooling refrigeration unit
  • better accessibility through the facility- currently all spaces in the community association are independent from each other
  • the parking lot is not within current regulations for laneway width between stalls

The goal is to raise enough funds to fully complete the Community Centre upgrade & code compliance project.
